Dear School Administrator/ Teacher,

As a former Special Educator of many years, I know how difficult it can be to meet the varied needs of all the students a teacher has in his or her classroom.  While students on the Autism Spectrum can be additionally challenging and puzzling, they are a very integral part of the school wide community.  The Autism Society of Maine provides education and resources to support the lives of individuals on the spectrum.

April is Autism Awareness Month and the Autism Society of Maine is providing Awareness packets to Schools in the State of Maine.  Each education packet contains informational brochures and posters for bulletin board displays, and lesson plan activities for grades K-12.

If you develop a bulletin board and share a photo of your display with us, we will add it to our online photo gallery and social media page.  Email to:  infospec@asmonline.org

We are also asking folks to please use the following link to complete a very short survey regarding your awareness packet. The survey has only 6 questions and will help us to create awareness packets that may be more useful to you. ASM may follow up with you after Awareness month if we do not receive a response.  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/T2RYHBD

We hope you will find this packet useful.

Sincerely,

Tena Hinds,

Autism Information Specialist Coordinator
